The David B. Gold Foundation - This is a family foundation based in San Francisco , dedicated to developing positive human potential and enriching the quality of life in the communities it serves.  The Foundation funds projects in the following areas:

Children, Youth and Families: The Foundation believes that exposing young people to a rich variety of social, cultural, intellectual, and recreational experiences helps them develop their identities and avoid self-destructive behavior. To enrich the lives and promote the well-being of youth, the Foundation funds programs that focus on developing life skills, building self-esteem, and fortifying academic skills.  The Foundation also funds programs that promote quality child care, education, health, and safety for youth.  The Foundation further believes that our society overlooks the well-being of young people.  Accordingly the Foundation is focusing more closely on programs that address (1) child-abuse prevention and intervention and (2) early-childhood care and education.

Democratic Values: The Foundation supports programs that foster a respect for basic democratic principles, including integrity in journalism, separation of church and state, protecting civil liberties, and the right to privacy. 

Environment: The Foundation is committed to protecting natural resources. To preserve and enhance the quality of the environment, the Foundation supports programs that work to reduce toxic emissions and waste, preserve open space, and educate the community about environmental issues.
